A big thanks to all our 2006 visitors, sponsors contributors & donors!

With your help and support we have surpassed our 2005 numbers with over 40,000 unique visitors and millions of page hits. All us volunteers hope the site is making a difference in the way people design their indoor environments.

A special thanks to our financial supporters and page sponsors who have allowed us to furnish outstanding graphics from such places as Science Photo Library and the Atlas of Anatomy.

To our download for document program participants you'll be happy to know your contributions are  helping us make ends meet by paying the monthly charges to our web service and internet provider. Thank You so much!

In case you were wondering: This is Our Training Facilities in Calgary, Ab., Canada.
We're very grateful to have the opportunity to work in a space created for educating designers on radiant based HVAC systems.

My recommended read for the year is:

Archives: Most popular pages from the past

Indoor Environmental Quality
We are finishing the
year with a new home page c/w a listing of the most popular pages. We have featured the superb photography work of Dr. Gary Settles since day one. An outstanding way at looking at space thermals.

Car Comfort
What can the auto
industry teach the
HVAC industry about
indoor environmental
quality? Lots! Most folks have no idea how many millions are spent on consumer comfort in cars. Now if we could  get the housing industry on board....

Radiant Based HVAC Help Forum
The online forum now has a membership of 300 plus. Engineer extraordinaire, Geoff McDonell, P.Eng, LEED AP, with other top industry icon's are here providing the best advice on the building and human sciences.

Thermal Comfort
Human comfort is a fascinating study well beyond the normal topics of furnaces, boilers and water heaters. Learn about the temperature sensors in your skin or why the brain is the perfect thermostat.

Carlson - Holohan
Guarding the Carlson -Holohan Industry Award of Excellence is Dave Yates whose job it is to tell the story until 2008 when it will be handed over to the next recipient. Dave Yates is one of the highest regarded ambassadors - a real industry treasure.

Thermal Comfort Manikins
$1,000,000 Man-ikin is a page on using simulated human physiology in researching comfort including some great instrumentation from leading universities.
A short history of using thermal manikins in military clothing research is provided.

Human Factors in Design
Most controversial article in 2006 was "The Tower of Babble." We like stirring up passion and debate and this article fired on all cylinders! It's a rant and rave all in one...if you're part of the status quo ...take your heart pills before you read it. Human Factor in Design Matters - Always.

Thermography Technology is getting so good and affordable that we see top end contractors and building scientists lining up to purchase these incredible diagnostic tools. For consumers and contractors, your best friend is a FLIR friend.

Radiant Heated Hardwood Floors
Three pages of facts on using hardwood including a link to the best resource; a 300 pg. wood engineering handbook - free! Courtesy of our friends at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory.

Radiant Cooling
Radiant cooling is evolving at a nice steady pace. Three pages on how to do it properly including a discussion on latent vs sensible heat, moisture control and dedicated outdoor air systems.

Underslab Insulation for Radiant Heating
A fun place to visit is the slab insulation page where we have a dozen resources visitors can use to battle the "bubble faux" story including Mark Eatherton's field studies.

22 Myths About Radiant Heating
The most favorite attraction is Radiant Mythology. We get more emails and disgruntled comments on this page; usually from those who are perpetuating myths or really have new information to share.

The Total Comfort System
The Total Comfort System page features one of the nicest mechanical rooms in America. It was featured in several magazines and continues to draw attention for its form and function. It doesn't get any better than this.
Thanks to Weil McLain Canada for supporting this page.

Heated Driveways
Discuss snow melting around the green building crowd and watch the fireworks. There are application where snow melt is required no matter what side of the environmental debate one stands so its best to learn how to do it properly.
We'll be presenting a RPA webinar on this topic December 12th, 2006

Radiant Design Guide
Codes, Standards and Design still seem to be absent in the world of consumer HVAC systems. Its a shame since several  companies like Wolseley and NRDC have established solid  benchmarks for visitor servicess. Both of these firms have contributed graphics and a steady stream of students to our courses.

Indoor Environments
Presentation Slides from INTERIORS08, A continuing education program for the American Society of Interior Designers.

Radiant Cooling
Presentation Slides from Wichita ASHRAE Chapter, a continuing education program part of the distinguished lecturer series.
