Greetings %%First Name%%
Just back from St. John's where a group of us 'COHA Conventioneers' became honorary Newfoundlanders...the "screeching in" ceremony is a tradition at "The Rock" and entails the kissing of the cod, a hail of " long may your big jib draw" and tossing back a shot of Screech to
seal the deal...yep those folks know how to have fun! The Canadian Oil Heat Association (COHA) hosted their annual east coast convention for several hundred delegates supported by a long list of
blue chip companies including our friends at TACO who sponsored our Human Factor in HVAC seminar...thanks to Taco's Sean Giberson, COHA's John Butt and Veronica Yu, our agent Constance Wrigley-Tomas, Kerr
Control's Dean McCarthy and all the fine folks who made it a memorable event.
This week at the website: Part II of RB's Industry Views. This time around we address skilled labor shortages and its potential impact on consumers, who could bear the
brunt of declining numbers of HVAC personnel. We also challenge contractors to ask why salaries remained relatively stagnant during unprecedented industry revenue growth and encourage each and everyone to consider this as we move into a downward trend in housing starts.
Companies who attended our seminars s back in the 90's were forewarned of today's business environment...you may want to attend our full day workshop to hear what we have to say about the next ten years.
Part I brought some great comments from well known industry personnel including Dan Holohan, Larry Drake, Jason
Bourque, Tim Doran and Paul Pollets. We'd like to hear your thoughts on Part II.
New to the site: Reciprocal link page. As time goes on http://www.healthyheating.com/ is being referenced and referred by more sites and individuals. We just want to
acknowledge everyone's support so please let us know if we're missing your referring site and we'll get you linked immediately.
You may have noticed the Ads by Google on select pages. We'll be using revenues from these ads to continue adding tools, content and funding industry causes so if you see ads which are of interest to you, please click away.
We've begun digging into Professor Qinghua Guo, book, "Chinese Architecture and Planning : Ideas, Methods, Techniques" which has an entire section on ancient heating
systems. This is really cool stuff and I'm looking forward to sharing some of the details with you later.
On the technical side of things, we'll be doing a Webinar this Tuesday, June 19th on control signals for those looking for some fine tuning (pun intended). Included with P, PI, and PID
will be an introduction to fuzzy logic. You can view most of our technical presentation here, but if you want to hear them live from the comfort of your home or office be sure to visit the RPA Site. Other upcoming webinars include:
Control Signals (6/19/2007)
Control Valve Theory (7/18/2007)
Differential Pressure Control (8/15/2007)
Human Factors in HVAC (9/18/2007)
Fluid, Flow & Velocity (10/11/2007)
Calculating System Head Losses (11/8/2007)
Snow Melting (12/5/2007)

At the blog we're featuring a great booklet by Andy Frichtl, P.E, And Jerry Yudelson, P.E. on Engineering a Sustainable World
plus a feature project, Toddle Inn Child Care Center & Nursery School.
Closing off this month's newsletter is a quote from famed architect Michael McDonough, "....the perfect heating and cooling system would be based principally on human comfort factors."
Stay well,
