Good morning:
If you are interested in affordable housing and/or saving Canada's environment, this e-mail should be of interest to you.
Canadians for Properly Built Homes has identified the need for longevity standards in the building codes. This has been included as one of the issues identified for the upcoming federal election as requiring action by the Federal Government. Here is our link that highlights this:

An electronic discussion among residents of a new tract housing development in Ottawa [Central Park (CP) - more than 1,000 homes] is currently facing the issue of having to replace their garage doors after only 3 years in some cases, and some homeowners are discussing the possibility of their community association facilitating a bulk purchase discount for these replacement doors. Please see below for some quotations from this discussion, and the actual link itself.
These homeowners are raising issues of cost, the environment, and required building code modifications.
All Canadians who are concerned about the need for affordable housing and/or Canada's environment, are encouraged to write to their MP, as well as the Minister responsible for CMHC, the Minister responsible for the National Building Code (Industry Canada), and the Minister of the Environment about the need for longevity standards in the National Building Code. (These addresses may be found in the link above.)
You are also encouraged to forward this e-mail to others interested in affordable housing and/or Canada's environment.
Regards,
Karen Somerville
