Abstract:
Let’s talk COMFORT - The highly acclaimed Rocky Mountain
Institute recently stated, “Seventy percent of whole home
performance customers cited comfort as a reason for their
upgrade.” Why is it, then, that in an industry built around
creating thermally comfortable environments most can’t
accurately describe, nor define comfort? Robert Bean will
take us through the fundamentals and applications of thermal
comfort and why this is the becoming the new metric for the
next generation of housing. Robert is an authority on indoor
environmental quality and the human factors related to
thermal comfort. He serves on ANSI/ASHRAE Standing Committee
55 - Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy.
He specializes in building and human factors to design
healthy and comfortable indoor climates in high performance
homes. At Camp he will help bridge the gap between building
performance and the choices you make in design, interior
finishes and HVAC systems and your client’s physiology and
psychology comfort.
